Brow Lift
A brow lift is a plastic surgery procedure that improves the appearance of the facial region between the upper eyelids and the scalp, extending to the temples. The procedure improves the overall appearance of sagging brows and minimizes the appearance of lines and creases in the forehead as well as creating a softer, relaxed and rejuvenated facial appearance.
Brow lifts can be performed through multiple limited incisions hidden within the hairline or through a single incision in the natural crease of each upper eyelid. The procedure can be performed alone or in conjunction with other rejuvenation procedures such as eyelid surgery or a facelift.
A brow lift is a surgical procedure; non-surgical rejuvenation treatments will not achieve the same results, though in some instances they may help to delay the time at which a brow lift is appropriate. Brow lift incisions typically are closed with dissolvable stitches, skin adhesives or surgical tape. Brow elevation may be maintained by the use of the permanent sutures, small surgical screws, or an absorbable fixation device place inconspicuously at the temples.
The procedure typically takes around 2 hours to perform and can be done on an outpatient basis using general anesthetic. Once your procedure is completed, your forehead may be taped and your head may be loosely wrapped to minimize swelling and bruising. Initial healing may include some swelling, numbness and discomfort that can be controlled with medication. An itchy scalp, particularly at the incision site is common. It is common for some facial movements to be restricted or temporarily impaired. Within a few days of surgery you should be able to return to some light, normal activity. Cosmetics can camouflage any bruises that remain. Healing will continue for several weeks as swelling continues to dissipate and incision lines fade. It may take several months for swelling to completely dissipate.
