Body Lift

If you desire a firmer, more youthful-looking body contour, with a firmier, smoother bottom, and lateral thigh and back, then a surgical body lift may help achieve your goals. In general, a body lift reduces excess fat and skin resulting in smoother skin and contours. A body lift generally corrects excess loose and sagging skin and irregular contours of the abdominal area, buttocks, groin, thighs and back. A body lift removes excess sagging fat and skin, around the circumference of the torso. In cases where skin elasticity is poor,  liposuction is complemented by body lift techniques to obtain the ideal result.  There is no other method of body contouring that can restore body shape, skin appearance, and skin tone as effectively as a body lift.

Body lifts are surgical procedures and they require incisions; in some cases, incisions may be extensive. A body lift is generally performed in a hospital, usually with an overnight stay. Once your procedure is completed, dressings or bandages are applied and you will be wrapped in a bandage to minimize swelling and to support your new contours as you heal. Drains are temporarily placed under the skin to remove excess fluid or blood that may collect.

Because Body Lift and a Mommy Makeover are similar, you can find before and after pictures of some of Dr. Sellers’ patients here.

BODY LIFT RECOVERY: Initial healing includes swelling at the incision sites as well as discomfort which can be controlled with medication. You will be asked to start light walking the day you arrive home to minimize the potential for blood clots and other complications. You must avoid bending, straining or lifting for several days. Where tightening of the abdomen or thighs is involved, you may be instructed to avoid standing fully upright and stressing any internal sutures as they heal, and to sleep with pillows elevating your knees. A return to light, normal activity is possible as soon as you feel ready, usually within 2-3 weeks following surgery. You will be ready to return to work and normal activity in about 6 weeks.

The results of a body lift are visible almost immediately, however it may take several months for your results to fully develop. Numbness and a firm feeling over the skin’s surface will resolve with time. Your new uplifted body contours should be long lasting, provided that you maintain your weight and general fitness.

Because a body lift is so individual, a personal consultation with Dr. Daniel Sellers is the best way to obtain the answers to specific questions  about your particular situation.
