After you’ve been sold the quick solutions that just don’t last, look for permanent solutions that will last a lifetime. Follow these top ten key points when looking for lasting changes that will bring a real change to your real self.

1. Artistry & Expertise – When you consider cosmetic procedures one of the key elements is your surgeons ability and artistry. You’ve heard the saying “Just because you have a hammer doesn’t mean you can build a home”. Never is that more realistic than when you are having cosmetic procedures done. Doctor Sellers is one of Utah’s best plastic surgeons and his patents testify to his abilities to develop natural and beautiful results. As you make these kinds of changes in your life you want to have amazing results without any regrets. a lifetime. Also Doctor Sellers is a certified hand surgeon, one of the most demanding skills in the industry. Doctor Sellers has over 20 years of experience knowing what procedure will be the healthiest and most appropriate for your needs.

2. Hospital Privileges – Does your doctor have Hospital Privileges for Plastic Surgery. Many of those practicing cosmetic surgery do not have hospital privileges at all or might have them in other disciplines outside of plastic surgery. When doing any kind of surgery you want to be in a safe place. When a doctor qualifies for Hospital privileges this means he receives additional education and has specific oversights that help you be safer and have the latest in qualified help and procedures. You often don’t get this when a procedure is done at an office.

3. Referrals – Always get referrals from a trusted source like your doctor or nurse. These are the people who know who is best at what they do and can help you find an expert who will really make a long term difference.

4. Beware of Certifications – Many of those practicing cosmetic or plastic surgery do not have certifications in plastic surgery. If the doctor is not certified by the ASOPS (American Society of plastic surgeons ) they don’t have to get additional training each year and are not help to higher and higher standards. Certain Cosmetic certifications are easily attainable and are not certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

5. Years of Experience – Find someone who has years of practical plastic surgical experience. Currently any type of family doctors, OB JYN, Dentist, Nurse Practitioners, etc can get approval to do cosmetic procedures and surgery. You want a specialist with years of experience not someone who is learning on you. Make sure they have 15 – 20 years experience doing the exact type of procedure you need done, not just a number of procedures.

6. ALWAYS see the Doctor – Always see the doctor on your initial visit. The doctor is the only one who can really evaluate what you need and what’s going to work best for you. See a doctor before you even ask for pricing. You’ll end up not getting what you need and paying for something that will not be right for you. Someone who just gives you a price is not qualified to give you any advice and legally shouldn’t.

7.  Accredited Anesthesiologist – Many of those who act as a Anesthesiologist are practicing under the doctor certificate and do not have their own certificate. This is not a place to cut corners. Make sure your doctor has a hospital qualified Anesthesiologist. If you have specific questions to what the benefits and drawbacks are to this contact your own doctor for details.

8.  Continuing Education and Specialty Training – Confirm that your doctor is up on his continuing education and safety practices. If he is certified correctly with the proper board he will be. Ask him for his latest certificate. A Certified Plastic Surgeon must go through 50 hours of training a year to stay certified, the most in any specialty. It’s critical in this specific discipline that your doctor stays on the leading edge. If he’s not getting this training you don’t want to be his patient.

9. Understanding Technology – Understand new technology before you get anything done. The technology doesn’t make the masterpiece. It seems hard to believe but many people practicing cosmetic surgery promote the new machine they’ve gotten as the latest procedure. It’s important that he knows how to use this new technology and that this new technology is really going to make the permanent change you want. You don’t want to be the person they are working out the new technology kinks on.

10. Location-Location-Location – Once again, this is the key to success when it comes to cosmetic and plastic surgery. Where is your doctor located, next to a mall, by a resturant? Your doctor should be next to a hospital where you will have the facilities, equipment and specialist to do the right job the right way.
